Building Bridges Pendle is an interfaith organisation and a registered charity which wants to bring a realisation that diversity, is a positive aspect in the make-up of our society. People must view differences in Culture and Faith as richness and be aware of commonalities in our identity as citizens of a multi-cultural and multi-faith country.

In its early years of delivering activities, Building Bridges Pendle had a focus on adult education and providing opportunities for social interaction through Interfaith meetings. However, as Interfaith and Community Cohesion agendas became mainstream over the years along with funding opportunities; our work has also increased over the years as well as the variety of our projects. Building Bridges Pendle built upon the Interfaith meetings and developed new opportunities for people to come together and learn from each other, with the aim of breaking down barriers which hinder the growth of cohesion and harmony in our towns. The recently emerging Prevent agenda has brought an added dimension to the Interfaith and Cohesion work.

In November 2009, Building Bridges Pendle celebrated 10 years of service towards community development work. This milestone has been a significant point in our history that has firmly marked our position as an organisation which is leading in ground-breaking and innovative work in the field of Interfaith, Community Cohesion and Prevent agendas.
